Well, we did finally get the MRI done yesterday. She was restricted to clear liquids 6 hours prior (from 4am on) and nothing 2 hours prior (8am on). I knew this would be a challenge because - don't let her petite physique fool you - she is an eater! And every time we get in the car she asks for milk and snacks. And wouldn't you know we had to be in the car for an hour before we got there? After I sign her in, Rachael Ray comes on the waiting room TV - great! Then a young boy comes in with a Barium shake - now you and I know that it's gross, but Audrey just sees a milk shake. And the boy's brother is munching down snacks right next to him. Finally we get to our room and after receiving our instructions we settle in and turn on Sesame street for Audrey. She loves Sesame Street . . . but the first little sketch was about - of course you probably guessed it was coming - Cookie Monster! We quickly flipped the channel and when we checked back it was showing N which of course is for NOODLES! Even Elmo was about fruit yesterday! She kept saying "hung-ee" and "nack." Eventually Bob the Builder came on and we were saved!
It was a long day, but even the nurses were raving about how good Audrey did. The MRI before hers took longer than expected, but she enjoyed the attention from everyone, playing and coloring while we waited in our very small room. She did great with the sedation and really didn't fight the sleep. I didn't do so well, but that's a story for another time . . . let's just say, I am very thankful Frank was there with us!
When she came back she slept for a while. They woke her up when removing her IV. At that time they gave her juice and snacks which she tore into since by now it was after 2pm. They had told us the sedation meds would keep her off balance for 8-10 hours, but she was downright loopy! She was happy and giddy and couldn't walk straight - it was actually pretty funny. The problem was that she was hyper and wanted to walk and play, so we put her in her pack-n-play with soft toys so that if she fell it wouldn't hurt her. By bedtime she was pretty stable and is doing great this morning. Right now I am just waiting on the test results . . .

. . . and finally - right before we sat down for supper, Dr. Kugler called. "First the good news," he says. My mind begins to race - good news first - then the bad?? The good news is that the MRI was normal!!! The bad news is that we still don't know anything and are in "wait & see" mode. But I really am okay with that. I didn't realize how stressed I was about all of this until we heard from the doctor and I was so utterly relieved - not that it's over that we know of, but I just so badly did not want to hear that anything was wrong. So right now we are thanking God that they didn't find anything and praying that she does not have any more episodes - which is a likely possibility. God willing it will remain a mystery to us.

This is good news! You know, so much is going on in those little heads..maybe her circuitry (sp?) is just working it's way out ...and she'll end up a genius :)
All the best to the family and big baby hugs for Miss Audrey!
We are so thrilled that there have been no new things happening. Just maybe there will be no more ...it is all in the hands of our loving Father.
Isn't it a tremendous source of comfort to know that He goes before? It's almost tooo wonderful! We want the Mom to know that we are praying for strength to handle each and every little "opportunity" that comes along. Thank God for Ggrace and Mercy. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
(Love the ponytails!!!) Love to all--Mimi
I just stopped by to see how you are all doing. I am happy to hear about Audrey's MRI. The human body is so amazingly complex. It must be a great comfort to you to have a personal relationship with the One who designed it! The Easter photos of the kids are great! You have a beautiful family. Take care!
